What this is

NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit, on behalf of six Integrated Care Boards across the West Midlands, is seeking providers to deliver sight testing and dispensing of spectacles to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in special educational settings. The requirement is split into 6 lots (one per ICB). Sight tests are conducted on-site by a trained clinical and non-clinical workforce, supporting statutory SEND duties. Estimated value is GBP 16,253,955.

Who can bid

Suitably qualified and experienced providers with a clinical and non-clinical workforce trained to work with SEND children and young people. A separate General Ophthalmic Additional Services Model Contract (Special Educational Settings) is established with the preferred provider for each lot.

Contract period

5 years per lot, with the Commissioner having the option to extend for further periods up to 4 years (total maximum 9 years).
