South Lanarkshire Council has issued a Prior Information Notice (PIN) to explore alternative treatment options for its Municipal Residual Waste (MRW), as its current treatment contract expires within about 18 months. The Council seeks market information on Energy-from-Waste (EfW) capacity, transfer infrastructure, treatment costs, waste acceptance and pre-sort requirements, and Emissions Trading Scheme liability. Facilities are required to receive and treat up to 90,000 tonnes per annum of household and street-litter residual waste, with any new contract to commence on 1 April 2027.
