What this is

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (UK2 notice) commissions time-limited External Finance Support for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, which is responding to a worsening financial position under Welsh Government oversight (forecast GBP 56.2m deficit in 2025/26). The independent support will develop a decision-grade set of approximately five to seven high-impact options setting out what activity, services or sites would need to slow, stop, be consolidated, decommissioned or traded off to materially improve the 2026/27 position and demonstrate a credible path to medium-term financial balance, articulated in granular operational, workforce and financial terms. The work is analysis and option appraisal only, completed by 31 March 2026. Estimated value GBP 1,500,000 excluding VAT; market research undertaken directly by the end user due to urgency.
