What this is
The Scottish Police Authority is appointing an architect-led multidisciplinary design team to carry out feasibility, option appraisal and concept design services up to and including RIBA Stage 2+. The commission will develop and test design solutions addressing identified building deficiencies, support operational requirements and inform potential future investment decisions. The appointed team must consider the full project brief and provide recommendations supported by appropriate surveys, assessments and costed design proposals, in line with the Professional Services Scope of Service in the tender documents.
Key points
- Early-stage commission: feasibility, option appraisal and concept design to RIBA 2+ only
- Architect must lead the team — a hard structural requirement on the bid
- Outputs are costed design proposals that inform future investment decisions, so this can lead to later delivery work
Who can bid
Architect-led multidisciplinary teams. The lead discipline is specified, so a non-architect consultancy would need to bid with an architect leading. Full requirements are in the Professional Services Scope of Service in the tender documents.
